MISSION STATEMENT Pursuant to Article 2 Section 2 of this Corporations Bylaws To further define the specific objectives and purposes
BRINGING BACK FROM NEAR EXTINCTION
THE CHUKCHI SLED DOG
AS IT WAS KNOWN IN THE EARLY 1800’s
(a) To support the preservation, advancement and development of the Chukchi Sled Dog breed.We are in the final stages of researching and developing the Chukchi Sled Dog’s History, Standards and Breed Registry. We will work for the betterment and advancement of the breed.
(b) To work towards the advancement of education for Chukchi Sled Dog owners, potential owners, breeders and the public regarding the unique qualities of the Chukchi Sled Dog breed. We will educate the general public about the Chukchi Sled Dog breed and that of other dog breeds.
(c) To develop an institution to teach and disseminate educational materials to owners, potential owners, breeders of Chukchi Sled Dogs, and the public, including, but not limited to, materials relating to the Chukchi Sled Dog through publications, lectures, discussion groups, forums, panels or otherwise. We will form committees of the active members of the corporation that will work on the development of educational materials that will be distributed to the general public.
(d) To publish a newsletter providing information to owners, potential owners, breeders and the public regarding the Chukchi Sled Dog and all other dog breeds. To distribute our own material and that submitted by others, printing all submitted, whether it is in support of, or in opposition of, the Chukchi Sled Dog. The newsletter will be a privilege of membership and be made available to the public at a reasonable cost. Our newsletter has begun its quarterly publication with the September 2001 issue and will be called The Sanjankah. This publication will be mailed to all current members and be offered as an educational tool to the general public for a fee just above cost.
(e) To actively work to eliminate prejudice and discrimination against all dog breeds and their owners. We will research the positive qualities of various dog breeds and offer education to the general public about these breeds.
(f) To educate owners, potential owners, breeders, lawmakers and the public about the positive characteristics of the Chukchi Sled Dog breed and the same for all other dog breeds. Our educational materials will be made available to all persons of interest and those that may need further knowledge of the positive qualities of the various breeds of dogs.
(g) To defend human and civil rights to own the dog of their personal choice and work to eliminate restrictive and prohibitive laws affecting all breeds of dogs. We will make available all the knowledge we have obtained to any dog owner that is at peril of losing their rights to own the dog of their choice. We will educate lawmakers about the positive qualities of various dog breeds in the effort to stop restrictive laws pertaining to any dog breed.
(h) To offer low cost instruction and training, including, but not limited to, dog obedience and care training. We will seek the services of various dog professionals to volunteer to teach dog-related topics to our members and the general public. These services will be offered at a reasonable cost to the members and general public.
(i) To develop and maintain a Chukchi Sled Dog breeders association, standards, stud book and registry. We will keep records of breeders that meet the standards of the Chukchi Sled Dog breed and maintain a registry of said animals.
(j) To actively support only responsible breeding and sales of Chukchi Sled Dogs. We will develop a code of ethics for breeding the Chukchi Sled Dog and will set strict qualifications that must be adhered to by breeders. We will only recognize registry for those that meet these qualifications.
(k) To support research and study efforts aimed towards the preservation, salvation, maintenance and safety of all dog breeds. We will offer assistance and knowledge to those that wish to research and study the Chukchi Sled Dog and other dog breeds.
(l) To offer our support to dog rescue operation facilities and help relieve some of the expense of saving said animals from extermination. We will offer supplies to and financial help to those that are in need that offer rescue to dogs in peril.
(m) To offer our support to other animal associations, organizations and groups that meet our same guidelines for, but not limited to, dogs of all breeds. We will work with and offer our knowledge to other groups that have genuine concern for various dog breeds.
(n) To sponsor at least one (1) rendezvous per year in different locations of, but not limited to, Michigan. We will meet at least once a year with members, other groups and the general public to revue our progress and develop future plans for helping various dog breeds.
(o) A committee of active members will oversee the "Chukchi Sled Dog Registry of America" Division of NSDA and will be responsible for all aspects of the breeders documentation, the qualifications to standards, stud books and registries.
